2021 Events and projects

February 23, 2021: 
Directors Karen and Bob gave a virtual presentation to the Southeast Arizona Butterfly Association (SEABA) entitled Evolution of a Butterfly Garden and Bob's recent published research paper entitled New Records of Pollinators and Other Insects Associated with Arizona Milkweed, Asclepias angustifolia, at four sites in Southeastern Arizona. The presentation is posted to the PoCo YouTube branded channel.  

April 2021:
Director Gene started his cross-country trip of photographing native milkweeds for his upcoming book on milkweeds of the United States.  Gene dropped into SE Arizona with seedlings of four species milkweeds he had grown out from local SE Arizona plants.  Many seedlings were planted in the Thicket Patch and some were donated to other restoration sites for seed production.

April 17, 2021:
Borderlands Restoration Network and PoCo will hold a pollinator habitat workshop on the Thicket Patch.

April 23, 2021:
Borderlands Restoration Network and PoCo will be at the Sierra Vista Farmers Market on Earth Day to hand out free pollinator plants and chat with gardeners about creating healthy pollinator habitat with native plants and no pesticides.  

June 2021:
PoCo sponsored and virtually attended the 20+ hour Beyond Pesticides' forum on Cultivating Healthy Communities, with excellent presentations by scientists, organic farmers, lawyers, doctors, and passionate young activists presenting the evidence for and path forward to a toxic-free agricultural system and healthier community for all life.     

June-July 2021:
PoCo is working with Echoing Hope Ranch on developing a large pollinator garden for their outdoor education program.
